Always interested in art, Alexandra Boyden attended the Rhode Island School of Design, majoring in graphic design. She worked in galleries, art museums, and for a time, as an exhibit designer at the Boston Children's Museum. The decision to focus on painting came after a fortuitous trip to Antarctica with her adventurous grandmother. This amazing landscape was so unlike any other that Alex felt moved to record it. The South Pole became her first subject.
"Other landscapes, both real and imagined, are now frameworks for an ongoing explor- ation toward abstraction. I continually experiment with color, form, gesture and ultimately a more intuitive approach. In the end, I strive to make images equally compelling to their origins, but with a newfound personality." - Alex
